Capim Dourado, Brazilian restaurant in Cedofeita, Porto, Portugal
Capim Dourado is a Brazilian restaurant on Rua de Cedofeita in the Cedofeita neighborhood of Porto. It serves dishes such as moqueca with passion fruit, carne de sol, and pão de queijo, alongside seven variations of caipirinha.
The restaurant opened in December 2018 and was founded by João Winck, who also runs Bao's, a spot known for Asian-style steamed buns in Porto. From the start, it set out to offer Brazilian food beyond the usual churrascaria model.
The restaurant sits on a well-known street that is easy to reach on foot, but parking nearby can be difficult. Visiting outside of peak lunch and dinner hours gives you a better chance of getting a table without a long wait.
The restaurant deliberately avoids the Brazilian grilled cuts commonly found in Portugal, such as picanha or maminha, and instead focuses on dishes from other parts of Brazil. The decor features objects made from capim dourado straw, a grass from the state of Tocantins, which also gave the place its name.
