The Eagle

The Eagle is an American restaurant in Cincinnati, housed in a former neoclassical post office building with wooden tables and a large open hall layout. The menu focuses on fried chicken alongside southern-style sides, sandwiches, and a selection of local craft beers and house-made cocktails.

The building that houses The Eagle was originally a neoclassical post office. Brothers Joe and John Lanni took it over and transformed it into a restaurant with the goal of bringing fried chicken to downtown Cincinnati, where it had rarely been available.

The Eagle sits in a central part of Cincinnati, within walking distance of other local shops and eateries. Weekend evenings tend to get very loud and busy, so arriving earlier in the evening or on a weekday makes for a more relaxed visit.

The chicken is soaked overnight in a secret brine and then cooked in a pressure-fryer, which is what gives it the crispy crust and moist interior that regulars keep coming back for. The birds come from Amish farms and are raised without hormones or additives.
