The red metal bridge stretches 27 meters across the Onyar River, linking the old city district with the Mercadal neighborhood through its sturdy iron structure.

This bridge received its name 'Peixateries Velles' from the fish markets that once operated near its location, reflecting the commercial heritage of medieval Girona.

The structure functions as both a pedestrian walkway and bicycle path, providing direct access between Calle Santa Clara and Rambla de la Libertad.

The metal framework underwent substantial restoration in 2008, maintaining its original 19th-century industrial design while ensuring modern safety standards.
