Combinatul de vinuri "Cricova" S.A.

Cricova winnica is an underground winery in Moldova with a network of limestone tunnels serving as storage spaces. The facility preserves about 1.25 million bottles in constant coolness and functions as an active production site for wines.

The tunnel system began as limestone quarrying in the 15th century to obtain material for building Chisinau. In the 1950s the mines were converted into a modern winery and used for wine storage.

The collection here preserves rare wines that tell stories of trade and collecting passion across centuries. Visitors can see today how these bottles are kept in the cool tunnels and what role they play in Moldova's wine heritage.

Visitors should bring warm clothing since the underground temperature stays cool year-round. It is helpful to plan ahead as access to the tunnels needs to be organized.

The facility produces a sparkling red wine called Kodrinskoie using Cabernet Sauvignon grapes made through French traditional methods. This special production sets it apart from typical storage cellars in other countries.
