Sironit Beach, Beach in Netanya, Israel
Sironit Beach is a public beach in Netanya, Israel, located at the base of the Rishonim Promenade along the Mediterranean coast. Two breakwaters extend into the sea, forming a sheltered area between them that makes swimming safer throughout the year.
Netanya was founded in the 1920s on top of the coastal cliffs, and the beach below quickly became a gathering point for its early residents. Over the following decades, the waterfront was gradually developed, and the promenade above grew into one of the most visited seafronts in Israel.
The beach draws both locals and visitors throughout the year, and in summer it hosts sports events and beach tournaments on the sand. The name Sironit comes from the Hebrew word for the Mediterranean coastal strip, reflecting the city's strong connection to the sea.
The beach is open year-round and has lifeguards on duty in all seasons. A glass elevator connects the Rishonim Promenade above to the sand below, making it easy to reach without navigating stairs, especially when carrying bags or coming with children.
The glass elevator that connects the promenade to the beach was the first of its kind in Israel, built because the cliff drops too sharply for a comfortable walking path. The ride down takes about 20 seconds and gives a clear view of the sea through the transparent walls.
