The beach sits near a former fishing village established in 1950 by fishermen from Vieira de Leiria who built wooden stilt houses.
Local fishing traditions shaped the area's identity, with generations of fishermen working day and night to sustain their families through river fishing.
The beach offers designated picnic areas, restroom facilities, and parking spaces, located approximately 110 kilometers from Lisbon by car.
The abandoned wooden stilt houses near the beach remain as physical remnants of the traditional Portuguese river fishing communities.
