Playa Quesera

Playa Quesera is a small beach on the Nicoya Peninsula with light, soft sand and clear, shallow water in gentle shades of blue. The shore is lined with some trees and palms that provide patches of shade, and a protected bay creates a calm and welcoming setting.

The beach became part of the Curu Wildlife Refuge, which was established to protect the ecosystems of the Nicoya Peninsula. Its history is linked to conservation efforts that have kept the area from large-scale commercial development over time.

The beach is part of the protected Curu Wildlife Refuge, which gives it special importance in the local community. Visitors experience how nature protection shapes daily life in this region, as the area is intentionally kept in its natural state.

The beach has no official parking lot, but a small makeshift area at the end of the access road near Playa Curu where a few cars can be left for free. From there, visitors must either hike for about one and a half hours through the refuge on forest trails, or hire a boat arranged by local tour operators.

A small cave near the beach provides a natural photo backdrop and creates an interesting visual feature with its rock formations. This hidden spot is often overlooked by visitors but adds a special charm to the location.
