Playa Biesanz
Playa Biesanz is a small beach on Costa Rica's coast near Quepos, surrounded by lush green trees and rocky formations in a crescent-shaped cove. The water is clear and shallow, ideal for snorkeling and spotting fish and small sea creatures just below the surface.
The area remained less developed than other Costa Rican beaches for many years, serving mainly as a fishing and swimming spot for local residents. It later became popular with travelers seeking a quiet retreat away from busier coastal destinations.
The beach draws both locals and visitors, especially in early mornings and late afternoons when fishermen launch boats from the shore. The sheltered cove and surrounding rainforest create a feeling of closeness to nature that visitors experience directly during their time here.
Access is by foot from nearby hotels or by water taxi, with no large parking areas directly at the beach, which keeps the surroundings quiet. Clean bathrooms, outdoor showers, and shaded spots make it easy to spend a full day here.
The small cove is naturally protected from strong winds and large waves, giving some visitors the feeling of having discovered a private beach despite it being publicly accessible. Occasionally sea turtles come ashore to nest, monitored by local conservation efforts that visitors may encounter.
