Playa Manuel Antonio, Beach in Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica

Playa Manuel Antonio is a sand beach in the national park of the same name, stretching about 1.7 kilometers with white sand and clear Pacific waters. Dense tropical forest borders the shoreline and includes walking trails and observation points for visitors to explore.

The area gained protected status in 1972 when the national park was established, saving it from commercial development. This early conservation effort helped preserve the natural features for future generations.

Local families use the beach on weekends for swimming, sharing meals, and playing beach sports together. The forest setting draws wild animals regularly to the water, making it a gathering place where nature and community life intersect.

Access requires park entry tickets with a daily visitor limit of around 600 people, with opening starting near 7:00 AM. Arriving early helps secure a spot, and sturdy footwear is helpful for the forest trails.

Three monkey species regularly visit the beach, making it rare to observe these animals in their natural habitat with few barriers. These encounters happen naturally throughout the day, creating authentic jungle moments for visitors.
