Mustafa Centre
Mustafa Centre is a large shopping mall on Syed Alwi Road with eight floors and over 300,000 items. The building contains a main store and several sections offering jewelry, electronics, clothing, and household goods, along with hotel rooms and dining services.
The business started in 1952 when Haji Mohamed Mustafa arrived from India and began selling food items. His son Mustaq Ahmad later opened a clothing shop in the 1970s, which gradually expanded into the large shopping complex that officially became Mustafa Centre in 1995.
Mustafa Centre sits in the heart of Little India and reflects Singapore's diverse community. The mix of languages, aromas, and goods on display shows how this place serves as a gathering spot for people from different backgrounds seeking everyday items and services.
The centre is near Farrer Park and Jalan Besar train stations, making it easy to reach by public transport. Open 24 hours, it allows visitors to shop at any time, and additional services like currency exchange and travel bookings are available on-site.
Mustafa Centre was the first 24-hour shopping mall in Singapore, setting it apart from other department stores. This round-the-clock availability attracts night owls, early risers, and travelers who prefer to shop at unusual hours.
