Jalan Besar Stadium is a football venue in Kallang featuring a modern artificial playing surface. It holds around 8,000 spectators and provides covered seating throughout the grounds.
The stadium opened in 1929 and became an important football hub in Singapore. During Japanese occupation from 1942 to 1945, it served as a language learning center before returning to its sporting role.
The name comes from Jalan Besar Road, a main thoroughfare nearby that marks this part of Kallang. Today it serves as a gathering place for football fans and local sports enthusiasts from across the city.
The stadium sits on Tyrwhitt Road with easy access via multiple bus routes. It is within walking distance of Lavender and Bendemeer MRT stations, making public transport convenient.
The playing surface was upgraded in 2021 with a GreenFields Evolution Pro 40 pitch. This was among the first installations of its type across Southeast Asia.
