Téléphérique C : Ateliers → Jean Moulin, Aerial tramway station in Brest, France
Téléphérique C is an aerial cable system that crosses the Penfeld River between the Ateliers and Jean Moulin neighborhoods, suspended 80 meters above the water. The 420-meter route uses modern cabins designed to carry hundreds of passengers per journey.
Completed in 2016, this was France's first new urban aerial tramway since the Grenoble installation decades earlier. It was built to provide a direct river crossing where no quick link had previously existed.
The station serves as a daily link between two neighborhoods, making it easy for residents to cross the river without detours. Locals have integrated it into their routine, treating it as a natural part of how the city connects.
The system operates from early morning until late evening, with extended hours on weekends. Visitors experience the shortest wait times during off-peak hours, making mid-afternoon or early evening the best times for a smooth crossing.
The central pylon stands exactly 80 meters tall to allow military vessels to pass beneath it without obstruction. Special smart-glass surfaces inside the cabins protect the privacy of residents in nearby buildings when the tramway travels overhead.
