Zikusia

Zikusia is a bronze statue of a female pharmacist standing on Świdnicka Street next to the Ziko pharmacy. The small figure displays medical-related objects and belongs to a larger artistic project featuring similar bronze characters throughout the city.

The statue was installed in 2014 as part of a city project rooted in the Orange Alternative, an anti-communist movement from the 1980s. What began as symbolic protest art eventually grew into hundreds of bronze figures now spread across Wrocław.

This bronze figure depicts a female pharmacist among a small group of only eleven women represented in the dwarf collection across the city. The statue reflects a specific profession through its visual details that visitors can examine while passing by.

The statue sits on the street next to an active pharmacy, making it easy to spot during the day. Bringing a map or list of other similar figures helps you discover more of them in the surrounding neighborhoods.

The pharmacist is one of the few female figures with a clearly identified profession in the entire collection. Her medical tools and placement next to an actual pharmacy create a playful connection between the artwork and everyday commerce.
