Labuś

Labuś is a bronze figure resting near the Hansel and Gretel houses, forming part of Wrocław's extensive dwarf collection. The statue sits at street level and is easy to spot as one of many similar artworks in the Księże district.

The dwarf was established in 2022, following a tradition that began with the anti-communist Orange Alternative movement of the 1980s. Today, over 800 such statues are scattered across Wrocław, forming a lasting artistic legacy.

The statue connects to Polish folklore through the krasnoludek character, similar to garden gnomes, and represents artistic expression in public spaces. Walking past it, you can see how the community engages with these small sculptures as part of their daily surroundings.

The statue can be located using specialized maps or mobile apps available from the tourist office. The Księże district is easy to reach on foot, and the artworks are distributed along the streets.

Near Labuś, bronze firefighter dwarves perform their duties, creating an interconnected story among the street sculptures. These scenes show how the artworks interact with each other and create small narratives in public space.
