Embalse de la Laguna, Recreational reservoir and campsite in Barlovento, Spain
Embalse de la Laguna is a reservoir created in a crater basin at about 600 meters (2,000 feet) elevation, surrounded by recreational grounds and a campsite. The water and surrounding meadows form a single outdoor destination with space for both tents and RVs.
A dam was built to support farming and water management for northern La Palma. This project transformed the natural crater into a working reservoir that served the region's needs.
This location serves as a meeting point for locals and visitors seeking outdoor time near water and mountains. The presence of families and outdoor enthusiasts shapes how the space is experienced and used throughout the year.
The campsite has electrical hookups, restroom facilities, and space for both tents and RVs. Visitors should know the elevation brings cooler temperatures and the site gets busier on weekends.
The reservoir serves as a resting point for bird species migrating through the region. Photographers and bird watchers come to capture reflections of mountains in the water and spot wildlife during early morning hours.
