Campingplatz Stausee Oberwald
Campingplatz Stausee Oberwald is a campground in Hohenstein-Ernstthal with organized spaces for tents, caravans, and motor homes, each on level grass surfaces. The site has around 70 permanent pitches, a modern sanitary building with showers, toilets, washing machines and dryers for a fee, a small kitchen area, and rental fridges.
The campground was established at the Oberwald reservoir and grew into an established facility serving both day visitors and long-term campers. A turning point came with the opening of Meisel's Shop in mid-June 2022, which brought essential supplies directly to the site.
The campground takes its name from the Oberwald reservoir where it sits, reflecting a strong connection to the lake and surrounding landscape. Visitors can observe how campers use the site as a second home, integrating into a relaxed, nature-focused community.
Parking next to your tent or caravan is normally possible but may be limited during major events. Advance booking is required to secure a spot, as arrivals without reservation are not permitted.
A vending machine at the main entrance has sold regional products like eggs, juice, honey, and fresh produce around the clock since July 2019. This allows guests to purchase essentials even outside shop hours.
