Camping Brunnen
Camping Brunnen is a campground on Lake Forggensee near Schwangau that offers pitches for tents, motorhomes, and wooden sleeping barrels for overnight stays. The terraced plots spread across the grounds with views of the lake and surrounding mountains, with most pitches equipped with electricity, water, and waste connections.
The site has been operated as a campground since the late 1950s by hosts who established the concept of simple nature camping in this region. Current owners Isabell-Marie and Julian continue this tradition and have positioned the location as a recognized facility in the ADAC Camping Guide.
The name Brunnen refers to the spring that characterizes the site and its natural rhythm. The campground attracts families and returning visitors who form a close-knit community of people seeking connection with nature and simple living.
The site is open year-round and offers sufficient infrastructure with modern sanitation facilities, underfloor heating, and private wash cubicles. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the grounds, and an on-site mini market covers basic supply needs, making an independent stay possible without frequent trips to the nearby town.
Lake Forggensee drains completely every autumn and refills by early June, transforming the site into a completely different landscape depending on the season. This unusual feature creates two distinct experiences and makes each visit feel like a different discovery.
