Zona de Acampada las Acebeas, Mountain campground in Sierra de Segura, Spain
The campground sits in a protected natural area filled with thick pine forests, surrounded by holly trees and maple groves at about 4,300 feet (1,300 meters) elevation. The facility accommodates around 100 visitors and includes barbecue zones, bathrooms, showers, drinking water points, and parking for cars and buses.
The campground was built in the 1990s as a key project to develop outdoor recreation within the Cazorla Natural Park. It marked an early step in bringing visitor facilities to this remote mountain region of Andalusia.
School groups and scouts come here to learn about mountain plants and how to care for nature. Visitors walk through the forest and see traditional ways people live in high-altitude areas.
The site is easy to access and has plenty of water, restrooms, and barbecue areas for groups of all ages. It fills up during warm months, so arrive early and be prepared for cooler mountain weather at this elevation.
The site holds one of the largest concentrations of protected holly trees in southern Spain, creating a special microclimate. Many visitors overlook how these trees keep the area cooler and greener than other mountain zones nearby.
