Griebal, Scout campground in Aínsa-Sobrarbe, Spain.
Griebal is a scout campground located in Huesca province at 745 meters elevation, surrounded by mountains and natural landscapes of Aragon. The facility includes camping areas and buildings that are remnants of a former village settlement.
In 1990, the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation transferred the abandoned village of Griebal to Scouts of Aragon for restoration and revitalization. This transfer transformed the historic site into an active educational and recreational facility.
Scout groups from across Spain gather here to participate in training and development programs focused on outdoor skills and youth leadership. The participants learn through hands-on activities and group interactions in the natural environment.
The site is best reached by personal vehicle due to its remote location and limited public transportation options. Visitors should prepare for hiking and bring weather-appropriate clothing, especially given the elevation and mountain conditions.
The campground was established on the ruins of a completely abandoned village, with some original structures preserved and integrated into modern camp functions. This blend of old and new use creates an unusual setting where history and current activities coexist.
