Campamento Cortijo Covaroca, Mountain campsite in Nerpio, Spain
Campamento Cortijo Covaroca is a mountain campsite in Nerpio spread across a large property with five stone buildings and terraced ground. Located at 1,100 meters elevation among pine forests and Mediterranean plants, it provides 72 individual plots and shared facilities including a covered dining area and separate bathrooms for guests.
The site began as a social integration project created by Fundación El Sembrador to provide employment for people facing social challenges in the Albacete region. This initiative aimed to generate economic opportunities in a rural mountain area.
The property includes a traditional Moorish oven and a distillery for natural essences, reflecting local agricultural practices from the region. Visitors can explore these spaces and see the craftsmanship techniques that have been used in this area for generations.
The campsite offers various lodging options on its individual plots with shared activity spaces throughout the grounds. The site is best explored on foot, as pathways connect different areas and allow you to experience the natural surroundings fully.
A geodesic dome structure on the property was built using wood, lime, and straw, giving it special acoustics for group gatherings. This unconventional building method creates a warm and natural setting that enhances shared activities and events.
