Zona de Acampada Campamento de Exploradores, Mountain campground in Sierra Espuña Regional Park, Spain.
Zona de Acampada Campamento de Exploradores is a campground in the mountain area of Sierra Espuña Regional Park, accommodating about 50 to 60 people within a Mediterranean forest setting. The site sits close to the Fuente del Hilo Recreation area and provides direct access to forest trails and the surrounding mountain landscape.
The site sits within Sierra Espuña Regional Park, where one of Spain's earliest large-scale reforestation efforts began in 1881 under the direction of Ricardo González. This pioneering tree-planting initiative transformed a depleted landscape into one of the Iberian Peninsula's most significant restored forest ecosystems.
The campsite serves as an educational center where groups participate in environmental programs and outdoor activities while learning about local flora and fauna.
The campground is accessible only with prior authorization and visitors must contact infoespaciosprotegidos@carm.es in advance. Stays are limited to three nights for regular camping or seven nights for educational programs, and campers must bring their own tents and equipment.
The site provides only non-potable water from natural springs and lacks permanent facilities such as toilets or electricity. This basic setup makes it a genuine outdoor experience for those seeking to explore nature without modern conveniences.
