This campground belongs to the Santa Magdalena hermitage complex, founded in 1558 by Franciscan friar Llorenç Julià. Julià originally lived in a cave on the grounds, which was later converted into the crypt of the complex.
The campground sits in an area traversed by shepherds moving their flocks, reflecting the rural traditions of the Montsant region. Visitors can observe this ongoing connection between people and livestock that has shaped the landscape for generations.
