Camping Sierra Espuña, Mountain campground in El Berro, Alhama de Murcia, Spain.
Camping Sierra Espuña is a campground with eleven wooden cabins, a sports pool, barbecue areas, and a playground set across natural terrain at 650 meters altitude. The entire facility spans approximately 18,000 square meters and provides different options for accommodation and recreation.
This campground sits within the Sierra Espuña Regional Park, which became the target of Spain's first major reforestation initiative in 1881, led by Ricardo Codorniu from Cartagena. This early environmental effort permanently shaped the landscape and vegetation of the region.
Local organizations such as the Women's Association El Abedul host traditional music performances and community gatherings at the site on a regular basis. These activities reflect how the campground serves as a meeting place for neighborhood traditions and social connections.
The grounds are accessible throughout the day and feature pathways and entry points suitable for wheelchair use. Upon arrival it helps to learn the layout of different areas such as the pool and barbecue zones so you can navigate easily.
The site provides direct access to the PR-MU 69 Barranco Blanco hiking trail, which connects the nearby village of El Berro to Gebas through mountain paths. This route is ideal for visitors who want to start walks into the surrounding nature right from the grounds.
