Les jardins des Martels

Les jardins des Martels is a botanical garden in Giroussens spanning about 3.5 hectares of landscaped grounds. The site features multiple ponds, rolling terrain, and diverse plant collections sourced from different continents.

The grounds were established in the late 1960s by Marie-Thérèse and André Reynier as a private garden. It opened to the public in 1994 and has operated as a visitor destination since then.

The gardens follow English design principles with large flower borders organized by color theme. Visitors find separate areas with pink, blue, and shaded plant arrangements that provide structure and visual interest throughout the year.

The garden is accessible via multiple pathways, though some areas involve slopes and steps. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow adequate time to explore the grounds.

The location holds France's largest collection of flowering lilacs, featuring over 50 varieties. In addition, more than a hundred rose varieties and a large selection of iris species grow here.
