Airbus A380, Work of art in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The Airbus A380 is a large sculpture shaped like an airplane and covered entirely in flowers and foliage, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The fuselage is densely packed with white blooms, while the tail fin is striped with red, green, black and white flowers, and the word "emirates" appears in gold flowers near the front; eight curved floral arches, alternating pink and white, stand along the top over the wing area, with additional clusters of purple, pink and green flowers covering the lower fuselage and wing root, all set on a low stone-edged platform above water.
This floral airplane was created as part of a seasonal display to celebrate the aviation industry and the region's connection to global travel. It was first installed in the early 2020s and has since been refreshed periodically with new flowers.
The sculpture often draws people who pause to take photos, especially since the floral design changes with the seasons. It has become a meeting point for friends and families strolling along the waterfront, adding a touch of color to the daily life of the area.
Visitors can walk around the sculpture at any time of day, as it sits outdoors on a platform above the water. The area is flat and easy to navigate, though there may be crowds during peak hours, so early morning or late evening offers a more relaxed experience.
The sculpture is made entirely from real flowers and plants, which are replaced regularly to keep it looking fresh. Despite its size, it is surprisingly lightweight because the internal structure is made of a metal frame covered with a special floral foam.
