FreiSchwimmer Bar, Rooftop bar in Munich, Germany.
FreiSchwimmer Bar is a rooftop bar on the seventh floor of Cocoon Hotel with a pool-themed design featuring turquoise mosaic tiles, colorful deck chairs, palm trees and a decorative pool ladder without water. The space offers different seating options like bar swings, steps, loungers and small tables with views across the city.
The concept began as a real rooftop pool for the hotel but had to be reimagined due to structural constraints when it opened in June. Owner Johannes Eckelmann transformed the idea into a pool-themed bar to work within these limitations.
The name refers to the idea of outdoor swimming, a concept tied to Munich's love for summer culture and carefree leisure. People gather here to experience this playful, informal spirit that reflects how locals embrace warm-weather activities.
The bar opens daily from 4:00 PM until midnight and can accommodate about forty guests. The best time to visit is late afternoon when the sun lights the city views clearly.
The bar serves a signature cocktail called Freischwimmer made with tequila, curaçao, coconut syrup and lime juice. A special Spritz Palme tower allows up to twelve people to share a drink at the same time.
