The area transformed from a working-class neighborhood inhabited by weavers who used basement workshops into a renovated heritage site that represents Lille's urban renewal efforts.

Visitors can reach the square by taking the Lille Metro to Rihour station and walking approximately 12 minutes, with nearby accommodations including Effia Hôtel and Mercure Lille Centre.

The square underwent a remarkable transformation from being considered the city's poorest and most dangerous neighborhood to becoming a cherished tourist destination between 1985 and 1990.
