Mural, Work of art
A mural on asphalt in central Zagreb at the intersection of Preradovićeva and Masarykova streets, featuring colorful cats in various shades. The work was created by street artist Slaven Kosanović Lunar as part of the Bloomberg Asphalt Art program over the course of three days.
The mural was created as part of a new pedestrian zone in central Zagreb designed to reduce car traffic and create safer routes for walkers. This initiative to reclaim streets for people rather than vehicles launched a wave of modern city beautification.
The mural was created by internationally known street artist Slaven Kosanović Lunar and features colorful cats in various hues. The work is part of a broader trend of using creativity to bring urban spaces to life and encourage people to reflect on art and daily life.
The mural is located in the central shopping and entertainment district and is easily accessible from the main square and public transport stops. Visitors can freely view and photograph the work as it sits on a publicly accessible street.
The work was one of the first large-scale art projects painted directly onto asphalt in Zagreb, completed during a period when the city was reshaping its infrastructure for pedestrians. The artist brought decades of international street art experience back to his hometown for this project.
