Mirador el Mulato, Scenic viewpoint in Mogán, Gran Canaria, Spain
Mirador el Mulato is a scenic viewpoint on the edge of the Barranco de Mogán ravine, in the municipality of Mogán in the southwest of Gran Canaria. From here, the view opens over a wide valley with terraced fields, fruit orchards, and the peaks of Tauro, Cruz de Mogán, and Pinar de Ojeda.
The valley below the viewpoint was for centuries a key route linking the north and south of the island, used by farmers and traders on foot before roads were built. The old stone walls and terraced fields visible from here are what remain of that long farming tradition.
The road leading to the viewpoint is narrow and winding, so drive carefully and allow extra time. There are no facilities on site, so bring water and a snack before heading up.
Mirador el Mulato sits within the boundaries of the Reserva Natural Integral de Inagua, one of the most strictly protected natural areas in the Canary Islands. This means the land around the viewpoint is legally frozen in time, with almost no construction or change allowed.
