Nungnung Waterfall, tourist attraction in Bali

Nungnung Waterfall is a cascade in Badung, Bali, that drops about 50 meters and is surrounded by thick jungle growth. The water flows powerfully into a clear pool at its base, with moss-covered rock walls framing the entire scene.

The waterfall has been known to local people for generations before becoming a tourist destination in recent times. The addition of concrete stairs and basic infrastructure gradually opened this remote location to more visitors without destroying its natural character.

The name Nungnung comes from the local language and refers to the way water bubbles and flows. For local people, this place serves as a spiritual connection to nature and remains a quiet retreat away from the busier tourist sites on the island.

The route to the waterfall involves roughly 500 concrete steps descending into a canyon in about 15 minutes. Stairs can become slippery after rain, so sturdy shoes with good grip are essential, and the return climb takes around 30 minutes.

This place draws relatively few visitors and stays noticeably quieter than other well-known waterfalls on Bali. This remoteness allows travelers to enjoy the location without crowds and experience the raw power of nature in relative silence.
