M115, 1940s United States 203 mm howitzer
The M115 is a field artillery piece on outdoor display in the Namyeongdong neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea. It consists of a long barrel mounted on a heavy wheeled carriage, and belongs to the category of heavy howitzers developed in the mid-20th century.
The M115 howitzer was developed in the United States in the 1940s and saw service during the Korean War. It was later transferred to allied forces and used in various conflicts throughout the 20th century.
The piece stands outdoors with no entry fee and no cover, so it is best visited during daylight hours. Dress for the weather, as there is no shelter nearby.
The M115 weighed around 14 tons, making it heavier than most field artillery of its time, which made moving it across rough ground a real challenge. Despite this, it remained in service with many armies for decades.
