Kapway
Kapway is a monorail-like transport carriage in Гостомельська селищна громада that operated on elevated tracks. The vehicle was built with dual parallel rails, rubber wheels, and could carry up to 150 passengers at speeds reaching 100 kilometers per hour.
The project was funded by private investment of about 3.5 million dollars in 2004, beginning with a 300-meter test track near Kyiv. Operations ceased in 2009 when copper wiring was stolen, and by 2013 all infrastructure was dismantled, though one carriage was moved to the Ukrainian Aviation Museum in 2021.
The former test site is located at Pokrovska Street 362 in Гостомель and remains under security guard, though no longer open to the public. Most of the original infrastructure has been removed, so visitors interested in the project are best served by viewing the preserved carriage at the Ukrainian Aviation Museum.
The carriage operated with rubber wheels rather than metal ones, allowing it to run nearly silently, a feature rarely seen in rail vehicles. The test platform featured a fold-out umbrella shelter for passengers, an unusual comfort feature for a transport experiment.
