BMP-2, Soviet infantry fighting vehicle series
The BMP-2 is a Soviet combat vehicle on display in Grodno, belonging to the armored personnel carrier family. It measures approximately 6.7 m (22 feet) long, 3.2 m (10.5 feet) wide, and 2.5 m (8 feet) tall, and was designed to transport troops while providing firepower.
The vehicle originates from the Soviet era and succeeded the original BMP-1 with improved armament and armor plating. It became standard equipment for infantry units in the Soviet Union and allied forces during the 1980s.
The vehicle can be viewed from the outside and is located at a publicly accessible spot in Grodno. Visitors should keep in mind this is a military artifact and should exercise caution while exploring around it.
