BMP-2, Soviet infantry fighting vehicle series
The BMP-2 is a Soviet combat vehicle on display in Grodno, belonging to the armored personnel carrier family. It measures approximately 6.7 m (22 feet) long, 3.2 m (10.5 feet) wide, and 2.5 m (8 feet) tall, and was designed to transport troops while providing firepower.
The vehicle originates from the Soviet era and succeeded the original BMP-1 with improved armament and armor plating. It became standard equipment for infantry units in the Soviet Union and allied forces during the 1980s.
