Międzyświeć Gord

This early medieval hillfort features well-preserved earthen ramparts and defensive moats positioned on a natural promontory overlooking the Bładnica River valley in southern Poland.

The fortified settlement was constructed in the 9th century by the Golensizi tribe and was likely destroyed around 874-885 AD during conflicts with Svatopluk I of Great Moravia.

Archaeological excavations have uncovered pottery fragments, iron tools, fishing hooks, and a silver-plated iron spur that demonstrate the daily life and military practices of medieval Slavic communities.

The site is accessible year-round for visitors and researchers, with visible fortification remains still observable throughout the forested area covering approximately 0.8 hectares.

The hillfort represents the easternmost defensive position of the Golensizi tribe and contains artifacts spanning multiple periods from Bronze Age through early medieval times.
