Via Ferrata Podružje, Via ferrata in Raštani, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Via Ferrata Podružje follows the Podružje stream through a canyon near Mostar, featuring metal cables, ladders, and bridges that guide climbers along steep cliffs rising over 330 feet (100 meters) above the riverbed.

The via ferrata was established to promote outdoor tourism in the region and provide a safe climbing route through the canyon, with reinforced anchors and safety infrastructure installed to facilitate access to the natural terrain.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has a strong mountaineering tradition, and the Via Ferrata Podružje adds to the variety of outdoor activities available, drawing both local adventurers and international visitors interested in exploring the country's natural landscapes.

Visitors should wear closed-toe footwear, bring water and sun protection, and use proper safety gear including helmets, harnesses, and gloves, with guided tours available from Mostar for groups and individuals at rates starting from 50 euros per person.

The route offers the unusual experience of climbing close to a flowing stream, passing through water pools and cascades, with seasonal variations that see waterfalls flow vigorously after rains and dry up during summer months.

Via ferrata in Europe: Dolomites, Alps, climbing routes

Via ferrata routes in the Alps combine steel cables, metal rungs, and bridges into protected climbing paths through alpine rock faces. The routes extend through the Dolomites, French Alps, Austrian Ötztal, and Swiss mountain regions between 2,600 and 9,800 feet in elevation. Routes such as the Ivano Dibona or Cresta Ovest della Marmolada follow former military paths from World War I. Routes like the Via Ferrata de la Cascade in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes run alongside waterfalls and gorges. In the Salzkammergut and Grisons regions, routes such as Postalm and Schwarzhorn access summits and mountain lakes. The Spanish Voie Olmo near Alicante offers Mediterranean climbing sections in limestone cliffs. Technical sections with overhangs and traverses alternate with secured walking passages. Most via ferrata require climbing harnesses and appropriate equipment.
