Chengdu Science City
Chengdu Science City is a large development area in the Tianfu New District of Chengdu focused on technology and research. The place consists of modern buildings, research centers, and university spaces spread across about 73 square kilometers, divided into eight zones.
Construction began in July 2013 as part of a plan to make the western Chinese region a center for innovation. The project grew quickly, attracting many large companies and research institutions in the following years.
Many young people working in technology and research make this area their home and workplace. You can often see groups gathering on terraces and in small parks between the buildings, discussing projects and sharing ideas.
The area is well connected by subway, tram, and roads, with many parts designed for walking and cycling. Wide pathways and parks between the buildings make it easy to move around the different sections on foot.
The layout follows the natural shape of the hills and waterways instead of straight streets and blocks. This decision makes the area feel less like a typical city and more like a space connected to the landscape.
