Wollega University Gimbi Campus
Wollega University Gimbi Campus is a university campus in the town of Gimbi, about 330 kilometers west of Addis Ababa. The campus has several buildings where students study subjects such as natural sciences, business, or agricultural sciences, as well as open areas for learning and resting.
The university was founded in February 2007 as a public institution to give more young people in the region opportunities for higher education. The Gimbi campus was established later as a branch location so students from surrounding areas could study closer to home.
The campus carries the name of the historical Wollega region and serves students from various parts of Ethiopia as a place to learn. The buildings fit into the landscape, and many students sit outside between lectures to talk or review their notes.
The campus is located in the western part of Ethiopia, accessible by road from Addis Ababa to Gimbi. Visitors can come during weekdays when students and staff are on the grounds working and studying.
The campus regularly organizes research conferences where students and lecturers present their projects and discoveries. These events also attract visitors from other universities and various organizations interested in exchanging ideas.
