Cloudbreak, spot de surf fidjien
Cloudbreak is a surf spot located near Tavarua Island in Fiji where waves break over a shallow reef. The spot produces fast and powerful waves that range from small but intense to very large, creating a challenging experience for experienced surfers.
Cloudbreak became established as a destination for serious surfers over several decades and has hosted international surfing competitions and events. Its reputation grew as more skilled surfers sought out the challenging conditions the reef offers.
The reef works at all tide levels, but the inside becomes very shallow at low tide requiring careful paddling and riding to avoid the reef. Visit during the dry season for more consistent wave conditions and plan to arrive early morning when crowds are lighter.
Although waves occur here year-round, the best and most powerful ones are generated by long-period southern and southwestern swells. The proximity to Tavarua allows early morning sessions before crowds arrive, giving surfers a quieter experience with the ocean.
