Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway
Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway is a railway museum in Falkirk run by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society that displays historic steam locomotives and carriages. The site includes a station building, a large exhibition hall housing over 20 vehicles, workshops, a small shop, and a café.
The Scottish Railway Preservation Society was founded in Edinburgh, relocated several times, and settled in Bo'ness in 1979. The site sits near the old docks and town center, where an important harbor and railway junction once operated.
The name "Bo'ness" comes from the harbor (ness) that formed at this location from the late 16th century onward. The area was long overshadowed by nearby Kinneil, a village that grew around Kinneil House before being abandoned in the late 1600s.
The site is easy to reach by car and usually has parking available near the station. Visitors should allow time to walk through the station, exhibition halls, and workshops.
Many buildings on the site were not originally from this location but were moved from other places such as Wormit in Fife, Haymarket in Edinburgh, and Garnqueen South Junction near Glasgow. This careful reconstruction gave the entire site an authentic historical appearance.
