Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau
Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is a ski area in Austria spanning four mountains and two valleys with more than 114 kilometers of slopes. The region connects traditional villages like Alpbach, Auffach, and Niederau, which are linked by lifts and shuttle buses.
The ski area developed from traditional Alpine villages that existed for centuries as farming and pastoral communities. Modern infrastructure was built during the 20th century to enable skiing and tourism, supporting the mountain villages economically.
The name Wildschönau refers to the scenic valley landscape that skiers pass through. The region is known for Krautinger, a local schnapps made from turnips that people enjoy warming up with after time on the slopes.
The area is well-connected by buses and shuttles between villages, with plentiful parking at lift stations. Beginners can use dedicated learning zones like Schatzberg Zwergenland and KidsRun, while equipment rentals and ski schools are available throughout the region.
Here you will find three natural toboggan runs for all ages, including special night sledding on the illuminated slopes of Alpbach on Thursday and Friday evenings. The area also features exciting tree runs like the Gernalm piste, which passes a small lake.
