Bleik sandstrand
Bleik sandstrand is a long sandy beach on Andøya island with fine, golden sand that slopes gently toward the ocean. The beach sits near the fishing village of Bleik and is ringed by dramatic cliffs and rocky outcrops that create a special setting for visitors.
Bleik was shaped by generations of fishing and boat building, showing the deep connection of its residents to the sea. The region played an important role in Norwegian maritime history and remains a place where seafaring traditions are alive today.
The small fishing village of Bleik beside the beach shows how people have lived from the sea for generations. Boats rest at the shore, and you see traces of this long connection to fishing and maritime life everywhere.
The beach is best visited during the warmer months and works well for swimming, picnicking, or walking along the sand. It is wise to bring water, snacks, and warm clothes, especially if you plan to stay longer or visit during shoulder seasons.
On the island of Bleiksøya across from the beach, tens of thousands of puffins nest and can be seen from boat trips. Landing on the island is forbidden between mid-April and late July to protect the breeding birds.
