Larino Historical Center

The historic center of Larino is a medieval town in southern Italy with narrow streets and stone buildings developed over several centuries. The buildings consist of simple yet sturdy homes with thick stone walls, and several squares with cafes and small shops sit at the heart where the community gathers.

Larino dates back to Roman times when it was an important center with an amphitheater and ancient spas. In the Middle Ages, the town expanded further, and the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Pardo became the spiritual core of the community.

The name Larino traces back to Roman times and reflects the town's ancient roots. Today, residents use the narrow streets and squares for daily life, and during festivals like San Pardo, you see people in traditional dress moving through the town, keeping customs alive through processions, music, and local celebrations.

The center is easy to explore on foot, with cobblestone paths and clear routes between the alleys. Local markets and small shops offer regional products, especially in the morning when fresh goods are available.

An eighth-century Roman amphitheater once stood here for entertainment and gatherings, with remains still visible today. Similarly, scattered ancient mosaics and archaeological finds from different eras reveal the layers of the past throughout the town.
