Bergbahnen Mellau
Bergbahnen Mellau is a gondola lift station in Mellau, Austria, that carries visitors to the mountain in about six minutes. The modern cable car features wooden facades at both stations and seats ten people with views of the village and surrounding valley landscape.
The cable car was built many years ago to make mountain access easier for residents and visitors. Over time it has been modernized to improve safety and comfort while maintaining its practical character.
The name Mellaubahn refers to the village of Mellau at the base of Kanisfluh mountain. The cable car connects the valley to the highlands, allowing visitors to experience the traditional mountain culture of the region through alpine inns and local cuisine served there.
The cable car is fully accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, and mountain bikes can be carried for a small fee. It operates during warmer months from late May to late October, typically opening in the morning and staying open until late afternoon, so check schedules beforehand.
Every week there is a special guided sunrise walk to the top of Kanisfluh where visitors can watch the mountains awaken. Additionally, the culinary hike offers five hours of trekking with stops at mountain restaurants for local cuisine.
