Nanaksar
Nanaksar is a house of prayer in Jagraon with a simple design featuring a large prayer hall and surrounding rooms. The grounds are clean and well-maintained, with gardens and walkways where visitors can sit and reflect quietly.
Nanaksar was founded over a hundred years ago by Baba Nand Singh Ji, who built a small hut and later established a prayer center. After his death in 1943, Baba Isher Singh Ji continued the work and introduced new practices such as Amrit ceremonies.
Nanaksar embodies the teachings of Guru Nanak through daily practices that visitors can directly observe. The community emphasizes service to others and shared meals, reflecting values of humility and kindness that are woven into how the place functions each day.
Visitors find the place most rewarding in early morning or late evening hours when prayers and gatherings take place. The grounds are open and welcoming to everyone, regardless of background or belief.
This place is known for serving meals around the clock, with volunteers continuously preparing food for visitors. This continuous practice of sharing is considered central to its spiritual teaching and draws people from various parts of India.
