Garden of Personalities, Park in Ville Basse Sud-Ouest, Honfleur, France
The Jardin des Personnalités is a small public park in the Ville Basse Sud-Ouest area of Honfleur, close to the old harbor and the Seine estuary. It is laid out with lawns, trees, benches, and a path lined with busts of notable figures set in boat-shaped structures.
The park was created to honor figures connected to Honfleur, including explorers, artists, and poets who shaped the town's story over the centuries. The boat-shaped bases for the busts were chosen deliberately to reflect the town's long history as a port.
Inside the garden, busts of well-known figures are placed in boat-shaped structures that recall the town's long connection to the sea. Among those honored are painters, writers, and explorers like Charles Baudelaire and Erik Satie, who spent formative time in Honfleur.
The park is a short walk from the old harbor of Honfleur and fits easily into a stroll through the town. Entry is free, and the flat paths make it easy to get around for all visitors.
Each year at the end of June, the park hosts a musical picnic where local music schools and groups perform while visitors spread out on the grass with their own blankets and baskets. The event changes theme every year, so each edition sounds and looks different from the last.
