Large crossing, Scenic viewpoint and lawn in Bagnolet, France
Grande traverse is a large lawn and scenic viewpoint within the Parc Jean-Moulin - Les Guilands in Bagnolet, France. It takes the form of a broad green strip set on a gently sloping terrain, bordered by trees on the edges and open to the sky above.
The land where Grande traverse now sits was previously used for gypsum extraction and farming before being converted into a park. The creation of the Parc Jean-Moulin - Les Guilands transformed this former industrial and agricultural ground into a public green space on the edge of Paris.
The Grande traverse serves as a connecting strip within the Parc Jean-Moulin - Les Guilands, linking different sections of the park together. On warm days, families settle on the grass, children run freely, and joggers pass through, making it a shared space for everyday outdoor life.
The area is easy to reach on foot and works well for a short walk or a longer outing through the park. Since the ground is open and unfenced, you can visit at any time of day and move through the space at your own pace.
Grande traverse offers one of the few open views toward the Paris skyline available from a green space in the eastern suburbs. The sloping ground naturally frames this view without any need to climb a hill or a structure.
