The Plage publique de Turgutreis is a public sandy beach with a promenade on the western coast of the Bodrum Peninsula in Turkey. The shore slopes gently into the sea, and a paved walkway runs along the waterfront behind it, lined with small cafés and snack stalls.
Turgutreis was once a small fishing village on the Aegean coast, and it grew into a tourist area over the course of the 20th century. The beach and promenade were developed as part of this shift, drawing in visitors from across Turkey and abroad.
The wide promenade along the shore is a natural gathering place for locals and visitors alike. In the evenings, people stroll here to watch the sun set over the sea, with the outline of the Greek island of Kos visible on the horizon.
The beach is within walking distance from the center of Turgutreis and has accessible ramps and restrooms for visitors with mobility needs. Showers and changing facilities are located near the main areas of the beach, making it easy to settle in for the day.
At one end of the beach stands a lighthouse from which the Greek island of Kos is visible on clear days. The two coastlines are close enough that you can make out the shape of the island during the day and its lights after dark.
