Entry to Little Adam’s Peak, Gate to a hiking trail in Badulla District, Sri Lanka
Entry to Little Adam's Peak is the main gate marking the start of the staircase trail to Little Adam's Peak, located within the grounds of the 98 Acres Hotel in the Badulla District, Sri Lanka. From this point, the path leads steadily upward through a series of steps toward the summit and its viewpoints.
Little Adam's Peak and its trail became well known as Ella grew into a popular stop for travelers exploring Sri Lanka's hill country. The name itself was given because the summit's silhouette resembles that of the much taller Adam's Peak, a mountain sacred to several religions in the country.
The gate sits within the 98 Acres Hotel grounds and is easy to find by following signposts from the main road in Ella. Wearing sturdy shoes is a good idea, as the steps can get slippery in wet weather, and carrying water helps on the way up.
The gate passes through a private hotel's grounds, yet the trail beyond it is open to any visitor at no charge. Those who prefer a longer walk can start instead from the Ella Flower Garden, which leads through working tea fields before joining the upper path.
