Akyaka River Romp, River tourist attraction in Muğla province, Turkey

Akyaka River Romp is a tourist attraction along the Kadın Azmağı river in the Muğla province of southwest Turkey. The water runs very clear, and the banks are lined with green plants, small bridges, and footpaths on both sides of the river.

The area around Akyaka belongs to the ancient region of Caria, which was home to settlements long before the modern town took shape. The river itself remained largely untouched over the centuries and only became a visitor destination during the 20th century.

The river is locally known as Kadın Azmağı, a name that reflects the area's deep connection to local tradition. Small restaurants line the banks and serve traditional Turkish food, making a meal by the water a natural part of any visit.

A boat trip of around half an hour is the most common way to see the river, but walking the banks is just as easy and rewarding. The small bridges across the water make it simple to cross from one side to the other and get different views.

The water in the river stays cold year-round, and some visitors believe it has a positive effect on their health after spending time near it. The clarity of the water is so strong that the riverbed is fully visible from above, giving the impression of looking into a natural aquarium.
