Mirador de Archipenque, Viewpoint in Acantilados de Los Gigantes, Spain
Mirador de Archipenque is a public lookout along the TF-454 road that links Tamaimo to Puerto de Santiago, above the town of Los Gigantes. A wide terrace with simple benches sits at the edge of the land, facing a tall wall of rock that drops straight into the Atlantic, with a small parking area nearby.
The lookout took on its current role as tourism grew around Los Gigantes, providing a safe place to observe the enormous natural walls that had long marked this part of the west coast. Its setting on a road bend made it a natural stopping point for travelers moving between Tamaimo and Puerto de Santiago.
Local people and travelers gather here to watch the sun drop behind the horizon, when the rock face turns copper and gold in the low light. Nearby, a small café sells drinks and snacks, and visitors often stand quietly with a coffee, looking toward the water far below.
Arrive early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the busiest hours, since roadside parking fills up quickly in high season. The terrace is flat and open, but keep a careful distance from the unprotected cliff edge, especially with children or in windy conditions.
On especially clear days, the silhouette of Punta de Teno lighthouse is visible in the distance, far beyond the edge of the cliffs. Between the viewing platform and the sea, the cliff height is roughly the same as piling up more than three hundred average-size people standing on one another's shoulders.
